Your blog came to me because I have a Google news search out on llamas. That picture of the poor llama with the protruding teeth is an example of a neglected animal who obviously doesn't have access to trees where it could grind down its teeth. Like a Beaver, their teeth continue to grow and if they are in an artificial environment, they can't tend to the necessary grinding to keep them from protruding, like in the picture. Second, I will tell you something magical about these animals that even some llama owners don't know. Most mammals, including humans have round blood platelets with NO nucleus. But, llamas have oval blood platelets WITH a nucleus, the SAME AS A BIRD. They have held a unique place in the animal kingdom in that they have never been used in wars, unlike horses, elephants and camels and second, basically they are not in the food chain (although there are some cultures who will eat anything.) In South America the Guanco, which is the early ancestor to the llama and more like a deer are eaten in remote cultures. Bottom line is that these animals deserve respect. They are highly intutive and extremely intelligent. We live with three majestic llamas in a hidden and secret little valley in southwestern Virginia where we take meditation walks and allow others to experience this delightful creature. White Crow
